Romantic Weekend Getaway
My wife and I decided to take a long weekend in Virginia and take some time for just ourselves. We selected Rhonda’s wonderful and historic home on the river. Our stay was beyond perfect. The house was beautiful and private with a fully stocked kitchen for cooking. We cooked, we laid out on the dock on the river, we had champagne on the porch, and we even fell asleep in the middle of the day, which is not typical for us. Rhonda attended to anything we needed and was a joy to talk to. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.

50th Wedding Anniversary/Family Reunion
What a fabulous time we all had. To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary we wanted to take our daughters and families (11 of us) on a special trip back to Virginia where we used to live and spend time together showing our grandchildren the history and sites. North Point Plantation couldn’t have been a better place for sharing and exploring. From the moment we drove up we felt right at home and as each day passed we called it home. From fishing on the dock at North Point to relaxing on the porch and just walking around the grounds our time together was very special. We visited wineries, drove to the ocean for a swim, and spent some time at Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. We visited Williamsburg and Civil War sites such as Cold Harbor and Richmond. The Plantation truly gave us the place to spend time together as a family and enjoy all it had to offer. Rhonda was the best hostess imaginable. She enjoyed working with our daughters to surprise us with flowers and our family pictures throughout the house and made us feel very special. Rhonda even recommended a wonderful bakery where our girls had a special anniversary cake made for us. Staying at a hotel would not have afforded us the same environment and atmosphere. It was “our home” for a week. We would love to spend time at North Point Plantation again.

We got married at North Point Plantation on May 20, 2017. We could not have picked a more perfect venue for our big day! When my fiancé and I drove down the long, winding driveway lined with vast green fields I started to get the feeling, but when the view opened to the beautiful, historical home right on the river I knew that this was going to be our venue.
North Point Plantation was the perfect venue for our outdoor, “woodland” wedding, but it could easily be transformed into a more elegant, formal affair. The grounds have southern charm, the rooms are stunning, and it is just so beautiful that we didn’t feel that we would have to spend a ton of money on decor. The Mattaponi River provides a perfect backdrop and sets the tone for the type of wedding you want to have and remember forever. I wanted to give my wedding guests an “Awe factor” and North Point certainly did that for me.
The owners of the property are phenomenal. Rhonda graciously gave a tour telling us about the history of the property and making us feel more like friends or family then potential clients. She was extremely organized, responsive and accommodating, and her passion for what she does and this property is contagious. There was no question after our first visit that we would book it, and there is no doubt you will feel the same way when you visit!
Our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives. All of our guests were gushing over the beauty of this venue, and I had several to-be brides ask me for the owner’s information afterwards. I would recommend North Point Plantation to anyone and everyone who is looking for that perfect place to say, “I Do!”

We had a great time at the North Point Farm Plantation. We (9 adults and 5 kids) stayed comfortably and had a wonderful time. Rhonda was the best host and Lafayette was a joy to play with. The kids had a great time fishing at the river and exploring and playing around the area. At the end of the stay the kids were quite fished out! The house was well stocked and made our stay memorable. It was a beautiful weekend at the plantation!

Wedding Week Family Stay
My family of 11 stayed here the week of Thanksgiving in preparation for my daughter’s wedding. Rhonda was an amazing host; very helpful and so knowledgeable not only of the history of the home but of the surrounding area. The home was beautiful as well as clean, the grounds were spacious and the sunrises were spectacular. All of us were very comfortable with the accommodations and the home was big enough for me to host a dinner for our extended family. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat (and plan to do so) and highly recommend it.

Long Weekend Getaway
My stay at the North Point Plantation was incredible!! From the second I stepped onto the property I was overtaken by the beautiful architecture of the home. I felt good energy radiating from the home and was amplified when greeted by the owner Rhonda Sonnenberg. What really impressed me was the extraordinary attention to details. I stayed on the property for 4 days and every day I was pleasantly surprised by new observations I had not made previously. Everything in this home, from design to immaculate furnishing, was thoughtfully prepared with great intention. This home is truly a great canvas for anyone interested in creating great memories. I found myself getting up for the sunrise to watch the fog gently dance across the water…and I am not a morning person! I attribute that to how comfortable the beds were! Seriously, I haven’t had that kind of good night’s rest in years.
Moreover, Bill entertained us with his vast knowledge of the property, which you can tell, he truly appreciates. Between Rhonda’s hospitality and Bill’s appreciation of History it made my stay one of a kind. We found ourselves laughing our way late into the nights exchanging stories and drinking fine wine. It’s hard to put into words that state of mind being on the property puts you in. Every breath in feels fresh and you easily forget all your worries and cares in the world. Whether you are having a wedding, a weekend retreat, or some time to yourself I highly recommend you stay here. Would 10/10 stay here again in the future!

Lovely historic home with modern comforts and friendly hosts on property who went above and beyond what was expected to help host a bridal shower for my daughter. They were very easy to communicate with and always responded quickly. Local sights and attractions are within a 30 minute drive and include Hanover Tavern, Saudé Creek Vineyards (our favorite), and New Kent Winery. I only wish we had more time while we were there to enjoy the back porch and sunset view!
